Terms of Service
These terms govern your use of City Search & Local ("CSL"), operated by City Print. By using CSL, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.
Who can use CSL
CSL's features — including search, Grade a Street, and Favorites — are open to everyone, with no account required. By using any part of CSL, you agree to these terms. CSL is not directed to children; if you are under 18, you may use it only with the involvement of a parent or guardian.
How CSL profiles work
We create place and business profiles using publicly available data — things like public listings, reviews, hours, and photos. We source this information from third parties and public records, and take reasonable steps to respect their terms and applicable law. A business may already have a profile on CSL before anyone signs up.
If you're a business owner and you don't want a profile to appear, or you believe information is inaccurate, you can request its correction or removal by emailing hello@citysearchlocal.com.
Scores and rankings
Storefront Scores, street grades, and rankings are generated using our proprietary methodology, which we may update at any time. They are informational tools to help understand online presence — not guarantees of business performance, search rankings, or customer volume.
Scores and grades reflect our opinion based on the data available to us, and are not statements of fact about any business. A business that believes its score or profile is inaccurate may contact us to request review, correction, or removal.
Your content and submissions
When you submit content to CSL — including street grades, ratings, reviews, photos, comments, or other materials ("User Content") — you keep ownership of it. You grant City Print a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, display, reproduce, and distribute that User Content in connection with operating and promoting CSL, and, where you have authorized it, syndicating it to third-party platforms. You represent that you have the rights to submit your User Content and that it doesn't infringe anyone else's rights or violate any law.
Notice and takedown. If you believe content on CSL infringes your copyright, email hello@citysearchlocal.com with a description of the work, its location on CSL, and your contact information, and we'll respond in accordance with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA). We may remove infringing content and, where appropriate, disable the accounts of repeat infringers.
Acceptable use
Don't use CSL to:
- Post fake reviews, fake grades, or fabricated information
- Attempt to game or artificially inflate scores or grades
- Scrape data or use automated tools to access the service
- Harass, spam, or mislead other users
- Infringe anyone's rights or break the law
We reserve the right to suspend or remove access that violates these terms.
Data accuracy
We pull data from public sources and do our best to keep it accurate, but we can't guarantee that every detail is correct at all times. If you see something wrong, contact us at hello@citysearchlocal.com and we'll look into it.
Intellectual property
Our scoring methodology, brand, design, and original content are owned by City Print. You may not copy, reproduce, or redistribute our scoring system, ranking algorithms, or proprietary tools without permission.
Content you provide (including any User Content you submit) remains yours. By posting it through CSL, you give us permission to display and syndicate it as described in "Your content and submissions" above.
Third-party services
CSL links to and relies on third-party services and content — for example, mapping and web-font providers, analytics and advertising tools, and external websites we may link to. Those services are controlled by third parties under their own terms, and we aren't responsible for their availability, content, or actions. Your use of them is subject to their terms.
Disclaimer of warranties
CSL and all scores, grades, rankings, and data are provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We don't warrant that CSL will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any data is accurate or complete.
Limitation of liability
We do our best to keep things running smoothly, but we can't guarantee uninterrupted service. We are not liable for lost revenue, missed customers, or any other damages arising from your use of CSL. Our total liability is limited to the amount you've paid us in the last 12 months or one hundred U.S. dollars ($100), whichever is greater. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited under applicable law, including liability for gross negligence, willful misconduct, or fraud. Some jurisdictions don't allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless City Print and its affiliates from any claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your User Content, your use of CSL, your violation of these terms, or your violation of any law or third-party right.
Dispute resolution and arbitration
If you have a dispute with us, please email hello@citysearchlocal.com first — we'd rather work things out directly. If we can't resolve it informally, you and City Print agree that any dispute will be resolved by binding individual arbitration rather than in court, except that either party may bring an individual claim in small-claims court. Class actions and class-wide arbitration are not permitted: disputes must be brought individually, not as a plaintiff or class member in any class or representative proceeding. These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and any matter not subject to arbitration will be handled in the courts of Philadelphia County.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. If we make significant changes, we'll notify you through the service or by other reasonable means. Continuing to use CSL after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.
